The Arizona Cardinals are the Worst Team in the NFL

Power Rankings, Week 8 Picks

I don't feel too great about my picks for this week, after two straight solid weeks of picking games. However, one thing I do feel I know for certain after last week is that the Cardinals could be the worst team in the league. I know how badly the Colts and Rams were beaten, and logic would say that the Cardinals would at least be ahead of the three teams still without a win (Miami, Indy, St. Louis). Here's the thing though.

First, Indianapolis owes a lot of their woes to losing Peyton Manning. Now, I'm not making excuses for them, a 62-7 trouncing is not acceptable no matter who you have at quarterback and I think the Indy organization is completely stupid for basing their entire team around one player, but that's a post for another time.

St. Louis and Miami? They're pretty awful but both have been pretty battered by injuries, Miami losing its quarterback and St. Louis losing its best receiver and cornerbacks.

Arizona? They have no excuse. The Cardinals got their big win in week 1, Cam Newton's break out game. Since then? They've quietly been the worst team in the NFL, losing every week since. They have just flat out missed on Kevin Kolb. Have you watched him play? He loves to check the ball down to the closest receiver despite having the best one in the game, Larry Fitzgerald. God forbid you try to throw the ball to that guy. Second, if there's even a hint of pressure he freaks out. If one of his lineman gets pushed back even an inch he'll immediately run out of the pocket as fast as he can to throw the ball away. It's his favorite thing to do, and it's a big part of why Arizona is so terrible. Their defense isn't much better as it boasts one of the worst secondaries in the league, allowing 274.2 yards per game.

God, I hate Arizona.
